The Rhoades Flying Saucer Photos

We've dealt sooner than the William Rhoades UFO photo from July 7th, 1947 at this blog and pensive beforehand.

Anthony Bragalia has provided commentary on the photo.

Hayden Hewes each evaluated the photos (two) in a "UFO Communication" article [October 1978, Expanse 40 ff.], from which the image exclusive comes.

Eight New Earth Like Planets Found

Astronomers have discovered eight new planets in the so-called "Goldilocks" habitable zone, orbiting at a distance where liquid water, and possibly life, can exist. Two planets are said to be the most similar to Earth of any known exoplanets to date.

"Most of these planets have a good chance of being rocky, like Earth"," Guillermo Torres, the lead scientist from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) in Cambridge, US, told a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle.

According to the astronomers, the two most Earth-like planets of the group are called Kepler-438b and Kepler-442b. Both orbit red dwarf stars that are smaller and cooler than the Sun. Their daily routine is as follows: Kepler-438b circles its star every 35 days, while Kepler-442b completes one orbit every 112 days....

The Ufo Grapevine

Many of the abductee stories start at night, in bed (although that was not true of Betty and Barney Hill). The show included clips from the 1997 movie "Contact" (based on Carl Sagan's novel) and the new flick "District 9". Caso De Abduccin De Betty Y Barney Hill El Veredicto Final

A m'as de 51 a~nos del caso de abducci'on m'as famoso de la era moderna, y uno de los primeros en lograr una difusi'on a nivel mundial, en Magical Dirt nos proponemos revisarlo para ahondar minuciosamente en cada detalle y dar con un veredicto decisive lo m'as certero posible basados en los hechos, documentos oficiales y extraoficiales, y evidencias ineludibles que se desprenden del caso.

Para ello contaremos con el aporte de la mism'isima sobrina de Betty y Barney Ridge, Kathleen Marden (escritora y directora de investigaciones de campo de la MUFON), el destacado Dr. Stanton Friedman (f'isico nuclear, investigador y escritor), y la colaboraci'on del Dr. Bruce Maccabee (f'isico 'optico e investigador OVNI).

En todos estos a~nos, el incidente protagonizado por el matrimonio Ridge se ha convertido en un referente al hablar del tema de las abducciones alien'igenas, y por ende tambi'en en un blanco apetecible para los esc'epticos/debunkers que ven en los casos m'as populares un lugar de ataque f'acil para lograr una extrapolaci'on al fen'omeno entero.

Es por ello que tambi'en en este art'iculo trataremos cada punto que se ha presentado como objeci'on a la veracidad del caso y presentaremos la correspondiente r'eplica bien fundamentada. Sin m'as pre'ambulos, y esperando que disfruten de la informativa lectura, comencemos...

Breve Rese~na del Incidente :

La historia de los Ridge comenz'o la noche del 19 de septiembre de 1961, cuando el matrimonio regresaba a su hogar de Portsmouth, en New Hampshire, de sus vacaciones en Canad'a. Cuando su auto transitaba por la ruta 3, la pareja divis'o un objeto brillante parecido a una estrella movi'endose en la parte sudoeste del cielo. Barney Ridge detuvo el auto varias veces para que su esposa pudiera ver el objeto con unos binoculares de 7 x 50. El hombre supuso que se trataba de un avi'on peque~no, hasta que el objeto cambi'o de direcci'on y haciendo una curva se dirigi'o hacia ellos.

Se encontraban a algo m'as de tres kil'ometros al norte de Woodstock cuando el ovni se desplaz'o frente al auto y vol'o hacia la derecha del camino. Barney Ridge le quit'o los binoculares a su esposa, sali'o del auto y se par'o en la ruta desierta para observar desde m'as cerca. El ovni con forma de plato se desplaz'o silenciosamente hacia la izquierda y se acerc'o de frente al auto detenido. Entonces Barney sufri'o un enorme shock: a trav'es de los binoculares pudo distinguir unas ventanitas iluminadas a los costados de la nave, y detr'as de las ventanitas pudo ver el inner iluminado donde hab'ia entre cinco y on one occasion figuras de aspecto humanoide que estaban ocupadas trabajando.

Para Ridge, los humanoides parec'ian vestir una especie de uniforme negro brillante con gorras puntiagudas. Sus movimientos le recordaron a los soldados alemanes realizando un ejercicio militar. Desde adentro del auto, Betty Ridge pod'ia o'ir a su esposo exclamando: "!No lo puedo creer! !No lo puedo creer! !Esto es rid'iculo!" Representaci'on de la escena relatada por Betty y Barney Ridge. Los Ridge dijeron que la nave se acerc'o tanto a ellos que cubri'o el campo de visi'on de los binoculares. Barney volvi'o al auto en estado de histeria, seg'un record'o su esposa, lo puso en marcha y se alejaron por la ruta.

Los Ridge llegaron a su casa sin m'as novedades, pero esos pocos minutos los iban a perseguir durante a~nos. Betty Ridge empez'o a so~nar todas las noches con una aterradora experiencia con un ovni. Barney Ridge sufr'ia de aprensi'on, de insomnio y su 'ulcera de duodeno empeor'o. Cuando trataba de revivir el hecho en su mente, Ridge se sent'ia perturbado al advertir que no pod'ia explicar todo lo que hab'ia sucedido en el lapso de las dos horas transcurrido desde el momento en que encontraron al ovni hasta el instante en que llegaron a su casa. ?Ad'onde hab'ia estado? ?Qu'e hab'ia ocurrido, realmente?

Como su ansiedad aumentaba, los Ridge decidieron buscar ayuda m'edica. Un cl'inico de su pueblo les recomend'o que consultaran a un eminente psiquiatra de Boston, Benjam'in Simon, para ver si mediante regresi'on hipn'otica podr'ian revelar el misterio que rodeaba a la noche del 19 de septiembre y retomar sus vidas. El tratamiento psiqui'atrico comenz'o en diciembre de 1963, m'as de dos a~nos despu'es del supuesto encuentro con el ovni. Bajo un estado profundo de hipnosis, Barney y Betty narraron una historia mucho m'as extra~na que la que aparentemente se encontraba en su nivel consciente.

El doctor Simon tuvo encendido su grabador todo el tiempo que le llev'o a Barney Ridge describir su secuestro a manos de raptores extraterrestres. Ridge record'o haber sido llevado por una rampa hacia el inner de la nave. De inmediato dijo que lo trasladaron a una habitaci'on para someterlo a un examen. "Pod'ia sentir c'omo me revisaban con sus manos... Miraron mi espalda, y los pod'ia sentir tocando mi piel..., como si estuvieran contando mi columna vertebral... y luego me dieron vuelta, y de nuevo me revisaron. Me abrieron la boca, y yo pod'ia sentir dos dedos que la cerraban. Despu'es o'i como si vinieran m'as hombres, y los pod'ia sentir que se desplazaban por el costado de la mesa en que yo me encontraba. Algo me rasp'o con suavidad, como un palito contra mi brazo izquierdo. Y luego esos hombres se fueron. Al rato volvieron, me pusieron los zapatos, y pude bajar de la mesa. Pienso que me sent'i bien porque supe que hab'ia terminado... Baj'e por la rampa y abr'i mis ojos y segu'i caminando. Vi mi auto... y Betty ven'ia caminando por la ruta, y luego abri'o la puerta." La mujer cont'o una historia shut up shop sobre el examen f'isico.

A ella le pareci'o que tomaron muestras para luego analizarlas. "Al entrar en esa habitaci'on (comenz'o su relato) vienen con un hombre que habla ingl'es. Se queda por un minuto, no s'e quienes son; creo que tal vez sea la tripulaci'on... y entra otro hombre. No lo he visto antes. Creo que es un m'edico. Traen la m'aquina... es algo parecido a un microscopio, pero un microscopio con gran lente. Me dio la sensitivity de que estaban tomando una fotograf'ia de mi piel. Luego toman algo shut up shop a un abrecartas, pero no lo era, y rasparon mi brazo aqu'i... hab'ia como un trozo de celof'an o pl'astico, o algo as'i, ellos rasparon y colocaron lo que sacaron en ese pl'astico". Betty Ridge dijo que pidi'o al que parec'ia el l'ider que le informara de d'onde ven'ia su nave, y 'el le mostr'o la ubicaci'on en un mapa de estrellas.

Luego fue escoltada de regreso a la rampa y entonces pudo regresar al auto.

Dos aspectos particulares de la historia de los Ridge han ayudado a darle una cierta credibilidad venture muchos investigadores. El primero es un mapa estelar que Betty Ridge dibuj'o siguiendo sus sesiones de hipnosis. El mapa se basaba, seg'un dijo, en el que le mostr'o el l'ider de los extraterrestres. A fines de la d'ecada de los '60s, una maestra de escuela primaria y astr'onoma fuel, de nombre Marjorie Friend, ley'o la historia de los Ridge y decidi'o ver si el mapa de Betty coincid'ia con alg'un sistema estelar cercano. Despu'es de construir un modelo en escala de las estrellas que se encuentran dentro de un radio de treinta y tres a~nos luz de la Tierra descubri'o que el mapa se correspond'ia bastante (aunque no de manera exacta) con una visi'on de nuestro Sol y las estrellas vecinas desde unos pocos a~nos luz m'as all'a del sistema estelar de los Ret'iculos Zeta.

Varios astr'onomos verificaron la exactitud del modelo de Friend. Curiosamente, muchas de estas estrellas eran desconocidas (al menos para los terr'icolas) hasta que se public'o el cat'alogo de 1969, es decir, ocho a~nos despu'es de la experiencia de Ridge. Para estar seguros los cr'iticos argumentaron que la coincidencia entre el modelo y el mapa de estrellas de Betty Ridge fue una afortunada coincidencia, pero los defensores del relato de Ridge sostienen que las diferencias parecen no tener importancia.
