If you were an alien planning on taking over the Earth, how would you go about it? Well, that isn't the topic of this post, but rather a well-documented UFO encounter in 1952. From the Daily Mail (where I apparently get a lot of my "news"):The sighting by an RAF fighter pilot on a training mission over West Germany in 1952 has been revealed for the first time by papers released by the Churchill Archive at Cambridge University.
Flight Sergeant Roland Hughes was returning to base when he was followed by a 'gleaming silver, metallic disc' which flew alongside him before disappearing at incredible sped.
The object was caught by RAF radars, which confirmed it was travelling at speeds far greater than possible for any aircraft of the time.
Hughes reported the sighting and was sent to visit Duncan Sandys, then aviation minister, to give his account in person.
He described seeing a flash of 'silver light' which rapidly descended towards him until he could see that it was a 'gleaming silver-metallic disc'.
He said its surface was shiny, 'like tin foil', and 'without a single crease or crinkle'.
He could see, with 'astonishing clarity', the craft's 'highly reflective and absolutely seamless metallic-looking surface'.
Flying at high altitude in clear visibility in his de Havilland Vampire, he estimated its size at 100ft across - 'about the wingspan of a Lancaster bomber'.
None of the other three pilots - all returning to RAF Oldenburg in northern West Germany - saw the object because they were executing a 'banking turn' and not looking in the same direction.
Six days later, Hughes was sent to RAF Fassberg in West Germany to give his account to senior RAF officers and Sandys.
The minister's first question was how many beers Hughes had drunk the night before.
However, in the end he was so taken by the then 23-year-old Hughes' story that he went on to brief senior civil servants, telling them he was convinced it was true.

In June 1947, Kenneth Arnold became a world-wide celebrity after his sighting of "flying saucers" over Mount Rainier. His notoriety traveled fast and wide, so much so, that had he initiated the modern day UFO era today instead of in 1947, he would probably have been offered the lead role in his own reality TV series. Arnold's story had all of the essential ingredients of a good old fashioned fire side tale that even Hollywood would be hard pressed to replicate: faster-than-man-made aircraft flying through the air, crashed saucers on the ground, Men in Black, Military Intelligence investigations, etc. Quicker than a Roswellian scout craft, Arnold's account jumped off the Associated Press wire and built itself into the UFO perpetual motion machine of Americana that it is today.
Sensational! Full of Intrigue! Amazing Story! Unbelievable but True! That's the way we Americans like our news - diced up, double fried and served hot - anything to keep us from being reminded of our dreary existence. Arnold's story was all of that and more. There's a reason why William Randolph Hearst could afford to build mansions and castles - he knew the value of Yellow Journalism and profited immensely from it.
But wait! It wasn't Hearst's International New Service (INS) that broke the flying saucer news, but its competitor the Associated Press (AP). And the AP's greater rival, the United Press (UP) would have to wait a good month before it could get the scoop on both the AP and the INS with the Maury Island investigation, also starring, yes you guessed it, Kenneth Arnold.
So what's my point? Well if you spent enough time digging through old 1947 newspapers, and only paid attention to the sensational flying saucer stories, you would have missed half of the story.
You would have missed the June 13-15 "Bigger than the Atomic Bomb" Top Secret Research project story that made headlines around the world, courtesy of the Canadian Press(CP) and picked up by the AP. This was the same incredible story I have conclusively proven as disinformation - not just another Conspiracy theory - but based on irrefutable hard evidence through declassified documents. If you only cared about the flying pie plate stories and crashed balloons, you would have also missed the June 13, 1947 story, also courtesy of the AP, of a contract that the US Amy Air Force allegedly awarded the Douglas Aircraft Corporation to build an aircraft capable of travelling 2,200 MPH and flying at a height of 35 - 50 miles. A great feat considering that it took competing Airplane manufacturer Lockheed, almost fifteen years to develop the SR-71 Blackbird that was capable of attaining that speed. Perhaps the contract money instead went to Douglas' founding of the Army Air Force Think Tank known as the RAND Corporation as no aircraft Douglas ever worked on seems to fit the bill of this mystery contract.
And if you were just focused on the Roswell captured saucer but deflated as a balloon story, you would have also missed the July 12, 1947 article that detailed renowned Harvard scientist Doctor Walter Orr Robert's description of an 8,500 MPH "Neptune" rocket project from White Sands, New Mexico that could cross the United States in 26 minutes. The very next day, the Army would not comment, "explaining that the newest rocket referred to was a Navy project about which the Army would say nothing." Indeed, you would be hard pressed to find any such rocket in the annals of missile history.
Taken individually, each of these stories is either proven disinformation, anachronistic or just weird with the military communicating big lies to the press. Taken together as a concerted plan to use the media to push out a message, not to the the American Public, who like Arnold implicitly trusted Government (I know, hard to believe considering today's conspiracy mindful public) but instead to our perceived enemies at the time, the Soviets, then from the perspective of a Grand Deception operation, they make complete sense.
And before you start pooh-poohing this mass deception notion and label it as just another Conspiracy Theory, perhaps you should study your Kenneth Arnold and Maury Island a little bit closer before passing judgment. Don't chuck the inconvenient details that don't seem to fit an ET explanation like:1. When Kenneth Arnold landed at Yakima, Washington, and told his story to Al Baxter, Al called in some of his helicopter pilots into the room, one of the pilots exclaiming: "Ah, those are just a bunch of guided missiles coming out of Moses Lake." Never mind, that guided missiles were not being developed out of Moses Lake at that time or that a lowly helicopter pilot would even know this. Poor suggestible and na"ive Arnold not only accepted this theory but fed it to the press.
2. When Arnold first reported his sighting to the East Oregonian in Pendleton (who put it on the AP wire), lo and behold, an "unknown man" told Arnold he had seen the exact same objects over Ukiah. How convenient.
3. Never mind, that when Arnold flew to Seattle that he just happened to be in the right place and at the right time to meet up with United Airlines Pilot E. J. Smith and Copilot Ralph Stevens at the INS offices, with Arnold, Smith and Stevens posing for the INS reporter while looking at UFO photos taken by another Seattle man, Frank Ryman. What a photo opportunity dream come true.
4. Consider that Arnold flew unannounced to Tacoma, Washington to investigate the Maury Island incident and couldn't find a room in town until he contacted the Winthrop Hotel which mysteriously had a room booked under his name, a reservation Arnold did not make.
5. Consider that this same room 502 at the Winthrop was bugged and Arnold's conversations leaked to the United Press reporters. Arnold was adamant about not talking to reporters, but someone else really wanted this story out and on the newswire.
6. Consider that the Winthrop Hotel was conveniently right across the street from the United Press office in downtown Tacoma.
7. And who was the manager of the United Press office? A man by the name of Howard Applegate, whose family member Rex Applegate was a prominent member of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the predecessor of the CIA. There are less degrees of separation here than Kevin Bacon to the Queen of England.In summary, Kenneth Arnold's story and all of the other military concocted stories I have listed were not meant for the consumption of Joe American, but for Joe Stalin and company. Why? Well if you were as afraid of the intentions of the Soviets back in 1947 as our American leaders were, you would make up stories too to prevent a hot war from igniting. Of course you wouldn't go through all of this trouble unless you could reap some additional benefits from it. But those other reasons will be the subject of another blog entry.

The fact that I saw a mothership UFO in recently in Colorado is of no particular importance. I am taking this method of contact due to the fact that I am very disappointed to find that Stan Friedman's phone has no more space for leaving messages, and I am not confident that I actually have his e-mail address. I am watching the hearing on disclosure on streamer, and a question arose just now, regarding "If there is anyone still alive who actually saw a body at the Roswell incident. I am well acquainted with a woman who was at the site because her son was stationed there with the air force. I have known her for many years, and have no reason to believe she is lying or that she imagined this. If Mr. Friedman could contact me, I will be glad to share what I know about this person and what she shared with me. I looked at it constantly for 10 minutes and then realized the light was getting bigger, like the object was coming closer. It was red and yellow flashes. After another 10 minutes I saw it moving very slowly from northeast direction to the northwest direction and the lights got smaller and went sideways. The UFO was stable for 30 minutes at it's position. I then went down and found a couple of people and showed them the light. They were also surprised, as they had not seen something like this before. None of us had a camera a video camera. I then came back up to apartment.At 11:50 am I contacted the UFO reporting center in Washington and filed a report there. At 1:22 am the object has moved northwest and the lights went smaller and smaller and sideways, stopping every 2 minutes in one position until it went pretty further away for me to see it. If you want the image of this object my best suggestion would be to take satellite photos at the precise time I saw this. You might able to pull some images. This is my first encounter with something like this and will never forget this day and sighting for the rest of my life. I noticed in the sky to the East a short vapor trail that looked like a typical trail except it was all by itself in the sky and was squared off at both ends. It was about 7 or 8 times as long as it was wide. I got curious and went and got a pair of 10x50 binoculars. I looked at the trail and noted a bronze colored sphere at the south end in the clear part of the sky. The sphere's angle changed and it appeared somewhat oval. It appeared to have been going in a Southerly direction and was responsible for the contrail. The object was stationary when I saw it however. Then it changed direction did a 180 deg. turn and went back into the contrail. Since the contrail was alone in the sky and short in length, I expected the object to emerge from the other side. I observed the contrail for a number of minutes, 7:48-8:05 am MST. The object never reappeared. I checked at various distances from the contrail but saw nothing but blue sky. The object had gone back into the contrail and did not come out. Slowly the contrail lengthened due to upper atmosphere winds and still no sign of the object. Whatever it was it was not an airplane nor a weather balloon. No airplane etc. was involved in this event in any way. To put it another way the contrail "swallowed up" the object as the object never reappeared after going into the contrail. There was clear blue sky all around the contrail and object at the time of the sighting. I would request that the investigator who worked on case ##47275 do a follow up on this event as well.

I wanted to write from a different perspective about the 38th International MUFON conference --as an attendee! This was my first MUFON and, as I made a friend from another UFO conference, I asked my friend to introduce me around.
But first, a word about...integrity.
Just what I believe:
I want to note something here that has more to do with a man's reputation than the MUFON conference. Stan Friedman made a point to say that he felt Walter Haut would never lie on the subject of Roswell or lie on anything; he had that type of character.
I felt Paul Kimball's attack on the character of Walter Haut on one of his posts was unfeeling at best. Mr. Kimball intimated that Walter Hunt asked him for money to do the interview and somehow that made him dishonest. After reading it I wondered if it was Walter who really surmised the character of Paul Kimball and decided: "If I have to be interviewed by this guy at least I should get paid."
Humility is rarely spoken about in today's world, but with a man who has served his country as Walter Haut has, a little reflection and some humility by a researcher may well be in order. As far as believing Walter recommended someone who turned out to be a jerk, my guess --Mr. Kimball, do you really want to throw the first stone?

"Now For The Lightning" - Lenny Bruce
There are rumors about a big ongoing investigation almost ready to go public. Something I've wanted for years to see happen: a person with multiple UFO contacts has been researched on the site of the phenomenon over an extended period of time. Increasing this unique investigation's importance, videos and photos taken by the researchers themselves are included. This was exciting news and I would like to commend the director of MUFON, James Carrion, for his support for this type of investigation.
The people at the conference, at least the ones I spoke with, were disappointed by the lack of new cases.
Yes, there was great stuff at the conference, but most of the presentations were documentation on rather old UFO related cases.
So I can understand why many were sad about the lack of young people attending. One attendee even voiced it on microphone. There is so much great phenomenon out there, but, as MUFON is very strict on not presenting video and other evidence without verification, we usually end up focusing on older cases with photos and information. Another speaker mentioned this problem of stale cases versus newer, current investigations.
I think this famous --or infamous-- holding back of case presentation is a big mistake for this great, historic organization.
Why? There exists an abundance of cases out there where groups are witnessing and filming these objects. It's not that hard to check the character of these witnesses, either. So why not move forward with developing research, however incomplete? And that way, we'd all keep subscribing to publications, return to conferences, because we'd be looking forward to updates and a commitment to news. MUFON can present this material as exactly what they are --videos and photos that need more research. How about at the conference segment --new photos and images? How about on their web site?
We need to learn how to capture and keep the public interest out there -- specifically, we need the young people who need to be inspired by the UFO enigma. They will be the ones to carry the research forward and put the time and energy into whatever it takes to rescue the truth. I worked with young men and women for years, and watched how, once the light goes on in their heads and something inspires them, they are a powerful force.
I'm betting the evidence that finally confirms the evidence of ET presence will not come from a document file deep in the archives, but from people - yes, the UFO witnesses. I know that there is always danger of MUFON becoming a circus, but I think the MUFON members have the intelligence, maturity and historical perspective to avoid that. So, MUFON, are you listening? Go for current, new cases --no need to abandon serious, signature research! And engage the outreach thrusters! Broaden the base so there's a next generation of membership to keep research fresh and take MUFON into the future.
I know I got a big mouth... that's what my wife says. She also says I am the kindest person she ever met. But does that mean I'm a wimp?
One MUFON speaker, Sam Maranto [See "The O'Hare Airport and Timley Park Sightings" on DVD at MUFON] discussed the O'Hare case rather briefly. Maranto touched on the NARCAP report examining the O'Hare case, in that it turned out to be exactly what the witness said: "A spinning 'craft' that shot straight up through the cloud bank and left a hole showing the blue sky above".
Maranto also showed video (from 2004 and later) which was presented for the first time -- quite impressive. UFOs were filmed at night. They had been observed by the witness before. The young man brought his friends over to witness what he was seeing. He started videoing what appeared to be ("globes") very similar to what has been seen in Mexico & Peru. These globes seemed to be attached to one large triangular craft that displayed different angles. I like what Sam Maranto said about all of MUFON working together and focusing on our common bond -- UFOs. Both Maranto and Richard Dolan seemed to address this issue of humanizing the investigations and broader cooperation among MUFON members. "We need to talk to each other more," Sam pointed out.
MJ12 documents were challenged for authenticity [by Brad Sparks' "New Revelations on the origins of MJ12": DVD MUFON] with some very interesting points, including UFO investigator Moore ( the primary researcher on the MJ12 documents) stating he felt he was being duped. Mr. Sparks was extremely tired from not sleeping so I couldn't ask him questions.
I am not tied into any explanation because I don't need to be.I have to say though, judging just from the lecture, Sparks never quite took up the strange way the MJ12 documents would refer to incidents by certain government officials which could have only been known by very connected people... even more connected than Doty, himself a prime supposed whistleblower in the MJ12 documents release, and also apparently an erratic character. Stanton Friedman had to go back to the archives to verify these claims asserted in the MJ12 documents. Other points made were intriguing. I would also add that the MJ12 material will always remain what it is, unless we can get the original government files... but of course, by then the government may create a disinformation campaign just for this possible scenario.
I applaud Sparks for his honest research. We all need to go over what he shows and draw our own conclusion. He does have me thinking. Some of Spark's claim that Doty was pushing disinformation, claiming NASA been involved any cover-up, is not far-fetched at all, considering the taping of full Shuttle missions by people and the continuing UFOs they show. These objects filmed by NASA cameras beg more investigation. NASA is not filled with fools: they know what is going on and they know how to keep a secret -let's toast the astronauts on that one. In light of these mission tapes, Doty's obsession with NASA, in claiming NASA has satellites that track UFOs, may have not have been entirely disinformation.
I love what the NASA program was supposed to be. I respect our astronauts, but unless these mission tapes are fake, then there is something up there that has nothing to do with anything except what we would call a genuine UFO.
Some of these craft's movements and sizes are nothing less than astonishing. The more people study the UFOs on these tapes presented by different UFO researchers, the more I and others are convinced they are not -ice -sun -moon -space junk -stars -reflection or -from us.
Some of them damn well seem to exhibit intelligent control. I believe NASA concluded that mile-wide UFOs were a defense issue and releasing that type of info without the defense input would have been highly arrogant. No one outside of the defense department should make that call on what kind of threat they pose. I believe in public disclosure but that doesn't mean the government had no right to hide information.
By this time, though, I don't think we have much to lose. ETs could do more to bring the planet together than any other news. After the smoke clears, that is.
I don't know the full story --and I don't think anyone else around here does. It was amazing to me how very little was mentioned about the ongoing NASA UFO images that people are filming directly from the NASA Shuttle mission's downlinks. Why hasn't NASA ever called these tapes fakes or doctored? Is it possible they have hundreds of NASA-obsessed followers of the space program that tape every mission and have nothing to do with UFOs? Does NASA want their space groupies looking carefully, not at the mission, but at the background where UFOs appear? In fact, that is what started it all: Stubbs was not a UFO "nut" he was a NASA "nut".
Some of those NASA mission images are amazing and they defy any mundane explanations. Researchers need to find others who have taped Shuttle missions. Something of profound significance could be found on these tapes. If I ever get any of these tapes I will go over them and if anything is there I would let the public see them for free and let anyone analyze them.
How about MUFON taping the future mission or searching for other tapes and then going over them for analysis?
One of the most moving presentations was by Kathleen Marden, a niece of Betty and Barney Hill: "New evidence on the Betty & Barney Hill Case": DVD MUFON. Because of Stanton Friedman's integrity, people trust him, and why not? Stan has exemplary character. He's down to earth with a powerful mind, and a good sense of humor. The hypnotic regression tapes were played and were, to say the least, amazing. I can understand why even Dr. Simon, a very conservative individual, believed in the end that the Hills were not lying. You can hear the astonishment in their voices as they recount the story... and it rings so true.
So for me, among all the slide rule presentations with graphs and the exposing of new and old documents, we have this lone woman who packed more power in what she said than all of the others combined. The power of people of good character.
I spoke with George Knapp, who announced a new DVD about Skinwalker Ranch which will include much of the missing evidence. I knew time was short, so I asked him one question, about the shadow figure which was witnessed pushing itself through the "portal" in space: they describe running up to the spot where it fell and seeing dinosaur-like tracks on the ground leading away. I asked, "Why no pictures or plaster cast?" His answer, "We did". So I'm waiting for the new DVD to see if it clears up the many troubling features of the NIDS investigation.
I spoke to Timothy Good and I have to say, what a pleasant fellow. I bought his book "Need To Know" which you can't get yet in the US --ridiculous. His presentation title was the same as the book "Need to Know: UFOs, the Military and Intelligence": DVD MUFON I had actually attended the same presentation in NY. Timothy made the presentation at Intruders Foundation through the great work of Budd Hopkins. I wish more UFO researchers would lecture there, people are increasingly interested in ufology. But I know also that Budd has limited funds, and it's expensive to pay for space in Manhattan.
But now to the other good stuff --the people attending the conference.
I spent most of my time with a new old friend I had met. He is retired and was a nuclear chemist who had top clearance Q. His longtime friend, who I had the pleasure to meet, was a physicist who worked for the same government agency till retirement.
They called me their resident skeptic. People like my new friends are the backbone of MUFON. They are intelligent, sincere, and know "something" is here. But even better than all of that, they were great guys. The reason they called me their resident skeptic was because some of what they believe is still hard for me to swallow. Especially the Jim Mars stuff. But that was OK. They at least listened to my theory, which was, it is mostly disinformation supported by documentation. Have to admit though, I've only skimmed through Jim Mars' books... so I am no authority on Jim Mar's books, and first impressions can be very wrong.
What will the future hold for UFO investigation? Only the Aliens know for sure

On June 1, 2013 I was out walking the dog and noticed how clear the sky was, so was looking up at the stars. It was sometime between 10:20 and 10:30 PM when I saw what I thought to be a satellite moving across the sky. When I first noticed it, I was looking NW at about 80 degrees from the horizon. It was bluish white in color with the brightness of a dim star, moving at a constant speed from north toward south. There was no evidence of any flashing lights such as one would see coming from a plane, hence my assumption it was a satellite. After a few seconds, it dimmed as satellites will typically do, but after losing sight of it for only a second, I was slightly surprised to see it brighten back to its original brightness. It was still moving straight at the same speed and along the same path as before. I was then even more surprised when I noticed it started to curve to the west, and then accelerate rapidly to the speed of a shooting star as it finished its turn westward. It faded quickly as it accelerated westward. The sighting of this object occurred within a span of about 30 to 45 seconds. I was still looking to the west where the first object disappeared, at about 60 degrees from the horizon, when 5 to 10 seconds later I noticed another moving object that also looked like a satellite, with the same color and brightness of a dim star. This object was slightly to the north of where the first object had disappeared and was moving west to east, at a constant speed typical of a satellite. It is my assumption that this is not the same object as the first one. I would have thought this was just a satellite if it hadn't been for the movement of the first object I had just witnessed. I watched the second object for one to two minutes. It passed overhead and stayed on a straight path at a constant speed for the duration, then dimmed and faded from sight at about 45 degrees from the horizon looking east. This second object was not remarkable and acted exactly like a satellite, but because of the first object I figure it is worth reporting. I continued walking the dog and looking at the skies for about 20 to 25 more minutes, but saw nothing else unusual. We've seen some great images from the launch of the MAVEN spacecraft earlier this week, but this original drawing of the moment of liftoff of the Atlas V carrying MAVEN is remarkable. This pencil illustration is reminiscent of the early days of spaceflight - or perhaps even the pre-spaceflight days, before we had actual images of launches, only our dreams of spaceflight.
"Everyone takes great photos of the launches and I thought a drawing would be something different," said artist and photographer Wendy Clark from the UK. "True inspiration comes from the things you love most and I think this is why I especially enjoy drawing space related things."
