Complete Map Of South Pole Released

Complete Map Of South Pole Released
This is the first complete map of the direction and speed of south pole ice flow.

This picture was taken from aircraft ALOS PALSAR radar interferometric data owned institution Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency satellite Envisat ASAR and ERS - 1/2 belongs to the European Space Agency and RADARSAT - 2 's Canadian Space Agency.

Eric Rignot, Irvine, and Jeremie Mouginot financed NASA for designing maps using satellite radar data from Europe, Japan, and Canada, to create a complete map of the direction and speed of ice flow at the South Pole.

"This map shows the glaciers flow of thousands miles of inland ice to the shore". This map will be very useful to track the location of sea surface height distribution due to climate change.

"This map is important information to estimate sea surface height in the future," Wagner ujarThomas, NASA scientists, as quoted by UPI.
