We were camped in the Cascade mountains in a remote wilderness area. At approximately 0300 we heard a strong humming swishing noise approaching us from above the trees, as it drew closer to us we drew our weapons ready to engage what ever it was. After drawing our weapons the object did not approach us any closer then moved away. It sounded like it stopped approximately 100 ft from our location. There were no lights observed. After daylight at approximately 0800 two fighter jets flew by near where we heard the noises as if looking for something? We are former military and often travel into remote wilderness areas but have never experienced a similar encounter previously. However in speaking with local residents they have witnessed similar sounds and strange lights in the area we were at.
