We went back in the house to get our son and his two friends, who are 19 and 20 years old. We all went outside and stood in the front yard and watched the orbs hover, while getting dimmer and brighter sporadically for approximately five minutes. At one point, one of the orbs ejected what looked like a flare-like object. My husband doesn't know if it flew away in a hortizontal direction or if it just disintegrated. The 3 orbs all slowly disappeared. The whole episode lasted about 15 minutes. I felt calm and scientific. I wanted more witnesses so I went and got my family. The boys were nervous, excited and a little scared. They thought it was cool. My husband stated that it was the first time that he actually felt like he saw a ufo. He was astonished and curious.

Witness describes three, orange, red, oval shaped UFO passing overhead in Coffeyville, Kansas.
While getting out of the car the witness saw an orange red light in the night sky. Their first thought was that it may be a helicopter because it was too low to be any other craft, until they realized there was no noise. The UFO passed through some tree and then disappeared. About 3 to 5 minutes later another orange red UFO appeared and disappeared just as the first one did. Believing that there may be a third UFO, the witness grabbed their camera and was able to snap this picture of the orange red sphere.

I was able to put a filter on the original picture and after getting a good look at it I believe that this is a Chinese lantern. Even the description fits a Chinese lantern, the witness describes the typical color of a Chinese lantern orange red, and then they also say that the UFO would disappear after a couple of minutes. Just as a lantern would after the little candle would burn out. If you compare the enhanced picture with the filter on it above with the picture below that is an example of a Chinese lantern you can see the resemblance of the two.

Full Description of event/sighting: My friend and I were laying on her front lawn looking at the stars when we noticed what looked to be a very fast moving star-like object. It was not as fast as a shooting star, and it wasn't slow enough to be a satellite. It was too high in the sky to be any sort of aircraft, and it was a solid white colour. We lost track of this object, but saw another one with the same appearance but going in the opposite direction. This object was going south for a while and then all of the sudden turned very sharply and started heading northeast.
