Beyond focusing exclusively on the upcoming forecast, this particular weather blog strives to capture what the weather means and how it informs day-to-day living in our area and beyond. We chat about seasonal events and outdoor life, stargazing, poetry and writing about weather, cooking weather, photography, weather humor, etc. Some mysterious object flying around the sky certainly seems to fit the criteria.

Although extraterrestrial visitation can be a thrilling, sci-fi-story-come-to-life prospect to consider, most of the folks I've spoken with are fairly certain that something far more plausible is at the root of this sighting. And the theory that seems to fit the best? That we likely witnessed some kind of locally launched unmanned aerial vehicle (more commonly referred to as a drone). There is no proof yet, and even if it was a drone, there's still the question of whether the flight path was by design or accident, what it was doing here (possibly a test gone astray?), or who launched it. But it's a working theory at the moment, and worth further investigation.

A while back I published a post with the title The Ancient Secret Transmitters Of Energy. It was about how I had visited a few places situated on ley lines.
Ley lines interest me and, following something I researched recently, I am wondering if there are places along these lines where time and space slips away.
Where two ley lines cross they are known as nodes and supposedly strange things can happen at these points. Here is an experience by a seasoned ley line hunter Stephen Jenkins.
Stephen's first sighting came about when he was just sixteen years old and this happened near Mounts Bay in Cornwall:
"The clumps and bushes were very still in the windless evening light when I suddenly experienced what I took to be a startlingly vivid optical illusion. Scattered among them, motionless but frighteningly distinct, was a crowd, a host of armed men. For a moment I stood stock still, unable to believe my eyes, then I began to run towards them. At once something like a curtain of heated air wavered in front of them briefly - and there were only bushes and stones."
A lot later in life, while looking at an Ordnance Survey map, he became aware that where he had the vision was approaching, or near to, a ley node.
Now married he returned to the spot of his first such experience together with his wife - and history repeated itself. "And again, as in the deepening light of that August afternoon thirty-eight years before, the illusion of armed men! And again the vanishing as one took a few paces forward."
Strange things can happen at ley nodes: dizziness, disorientation, visions and even the appearance of UFOs.
An interesting theory about UFOs came from Air Marshall Sir Victor Goddard. At a meeting of the British Interplanetary Society he suggested that we shouldn't assume that UFOs were from other planets - they might simply "come from an invisible world that coincides with the space of our own".

HBCC UFO Research Note: From what the eyewitness told me in this report, there were a number of other eyewitnesses to this event. Also someone took a photo of the object and was printed in the L'Acadie Nouvelle newspaper. If anyone else has any information on this sighting, would you be kind enough to send along the details of what you witnessed. I have just written a letter to the L'Acadie Nouvelle newspaper in hopes of maybe getting a look at the photo, or finding other folks. Full Description of event/sighting: I don't generally buy into this type of thing, but while parked at a beach, myself and two friends witnessed a bright glowing oblong object in the sky steadily grow brighter, then disappear. It occurred a second time, it was large, closer than the 'stars' but further out than low flying planes.
After speaking to people in town, a number of folks saw it as well who were in different areas of this part of NB, and everyone is incredibly perplexed.
One witness took a photo, and it was apparently published in the local newspaper (L'Acadie Nouvelle), but I have not yet been able to find a copy of that paper.
Also interesting to note, is that the next night we were looking in the same area, hoping to witness the same thing while we had a camera, but instead we saw a steady stream of air traffic, all following the same flight path. In fifteen minutes we saw fifteen aircraft, of which there were three sets of pairs of smaller jets and one low flying large plane that looked similar to a Herc, all flying towards the area that the 'UFO' was reported, which is extremely out of the ordinary for this part of NB.
I feel pretty silly explaining this, but I have to say that my mind is boggled, as are the minds of many people around here. Mostly, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions as to how we can find out what this light may have been?
I have to thank the person who was kind enough to find the picture that was posted in the L'Acadie Nouvelle newspaper and for sending it along to me.
